A question about Seattle care
How do I check a Washington licence?
Get the names first. Then use the public record to check the person and the pharmacy separately.
Get the full name before searching.
Get the full name of whoever will assess you. Get the pharmacy’s name too, so you know who will supply any medicine.
As of September 30, 2026, Washington’s public credential search accepts a person’s name, a business name or a credential number. A
A credential number identifies the official licence record. Match the record to the name you were given.
Look for an active licence and read any disciplinary records. These describe steps the licensing office took over concerns about the person or pharmacy, including any limits on practice. If the status or a restriction is unclear, ask that office whether the licence allows the care being offered. A clear record is not a guarantee of skill or a recommendation.

As of September 30, 2026, the Washington Medical Commission licenses medical doctors, often listed as MDs, and physician assistants. B
A physician assistant works under a written agreement with a doctor in Washington.
A DO is a doctor whose degree is called Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. These doctors have their own Washington board, the Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. For this check, DO tells you which board to use.
A revoked licence means the right to practise has been taken away.
Nurse practitioners are licensed through the Washington State Board of Nursing.
For a nurse practitioner, ask for the Board of Nursing’s licence verification. It states whether permission to write prescriptions has been granted.

As of September 30, 2026, Washington pharmacies are regulated through the state’s Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission. C
Washington generally requires a pharmacy shipping prescription medicine from another state to hold a Washington nonresident licence.
A nonresident pharmacy has its base beyond Washington’s borders. The Pharmacy Commission can excuse a pharmacy from this licence rule for occasional orders into Washington. One order to you does not by itself show that the pharmacy has been excused.
Ask for the pharmacy’s Washington licence record. If no record appears and it claims an exception, ask for the Commission’s exemption and contact the Commission to check it.
